Deposit to the Disney fund 8.6.10

I’m sorry the deposits have been few and far between. In all honesty since we found out we are pregnant with #3, Disney hasn’t been the first thing on our mind. But the shock is wearing off and I am dying to get back to Disney. Here’s some money that have accumulated in the past 3 weeks:

  • $15 in rebates from SC Johnson
  • $9.99 Schick Hydro Rebate
  • $33 in rewards dollars earned on my Disney Visa
  • $8.62 in spare change

$66.61 added to the Disney fund. $346.26 saved since June 3rd!

One of the best ways to be a successful bargain hunter is to have a group of bargain loving friends in your area. This person (or people) will encourage you, vent with you, celebrate with you and more! I have one myself and it’s so fun to compare deals we scored and help each other know which stores are in stock, which cashiers are the best and more.

So if you are interested in finding a couponing buddy, leave a comment on this post letting us know what area of the country you live in. Then keep a watch on the comments for someone to say they live in the same area as you do!

So who is going to brave the crowds for tax free weekend? I won’t be one of them (we always shop ahead because things get picked over very badly around here). But I want to know who is going and what deals you score! If you aren’t sure if your state is participating, be sure to check out the list here.

If you are in the Birmingham, AL area Jefferson County is not taking off the local county tax (so you still pay 5%) but Shelby county is. You might want to hit the Walmart on Hwy 280 in Inverness or the ones in  Hoover, North Pelham, Chelsea, or Alabaster.

Day 6 of No Dining August

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!

Things to remember about Rite Aid

  • They have Single Check Rebates (SCR) that change monthly. You can submit for them online after you purchase the products. You will receive a check within 6 weeks. This is a check you can deposit into your checking account. If you make money on these, you could add it to your fund if you want.
  • Up Rewards are just like CVS’s Extra Care Bucks. They print on the end of your receipt and you can use them to buy another product in the store (excluding prescriptions, tobacco, alcohol, etc).
  • Video Values are coupons you receive for watching videos on Rite Aid’s website. You print them out and present them in the store.
  • You need your free Wellness Card to earn rewards and more.

You can print out a coupon for $5/$25 purchase!
