HTC Magic (1.5)
Dell Streak (2.1)
Motorola Milestone (2.1)
Motorola XT701

Motorola ME511
Sony Ericsson X10 (1.6)
Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro (1.6)

Motorola Droid Is Officially Out Of Stock

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 09:54 AM PDT

The Motorola Droid is one of the best selling Android phones in the market. The popularity of Android can be to a certain extent credited to the Motorola Droid. The strong ‘Droid Does’ marketing campaign by Verizon andDroid 2 Motorola led to this device selling like hot cakes. However, with time the Droid has become old and it’s time to bid adieu to the device. Motorola and Verizon have now officially phased out the original Droid. Consumers can no longer order the Droid from the Verizon website.

Nevertheless, they can still try websites like eBay.com and Amazon.com to get their hands on the handset. The Motorola Droid is all set to be replaced by Droid 2. Rumours suggest that the Droid 2 will be launched by Verizon and Motorola on August 12.

The Droid 2 will feature a 1 GHz processor, along with 512MB of RAM. It will also be the first device to be launched with Froyo on board. The only thing left is Motorola and Verizon officially announcing the Droid 2.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to Be Available on AT&T from August 15

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 08:42 AM PDT

After teasing us for the past few hours, Sony Ericsson has revealed that the Xperia X10 will be available in the US through AT&T from August 15. The Xperia X10 is Sony Ericssson’s flagship Android device, which runs on a 1 GHz snapdragon processor and sports a 4 inch TFT screen.

Xperia-X10-AT&T

The good news is that the X10 will be available for a lot less than other Android handsets with similar hardware configuration. The catch is that you will have to do with the horribly outdated Android 1.6 operating system. Sony Ericsson has promised to deliver Android 2.1 in Q3-Q4. However, even then, the X10 will be outdated as HTC and Motorola have already begun rolling out Android 2.2 (Froyo).

Other features in the Xperia X10 include custom Timescape (social networking) and Mediascape (multimedia) apps, 8.1 megapixel camera and 2 GB in-box memory card (expandable up to 32 GB). Support for 720p HD video recording will be introduced with the Android 2.1 update.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be available from AT&T for $149.99 with a 2 year contract. However, if you pick it up from a Sony Style store, you will get it for $129.99. Even better, a week later, the handset will be available on Amazon.com for $49.99.

HTC Schubert Leaked, Another Windows Phone 7 Device

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 08:25 AM PDT

It’s the day of leaks. After the Samsung Flight II and the HTC Desire HD, we have the video of a new Windows Phone 7 smartphone by HTC: the HTC Schubert.

HTC Schubert

Windows Phone 7 hasn’t excited the major phone manufacturers yet, and we have seen just a few announcements about it yet. Last week, images of an Asus phone running WP7 surfaced in Pakistan, but that was about it.

With the HTC Schubert, it looks like we may see some WP7 action soon.

It seems to have a unibody design like the HTC Legend and seems quite compact. The display looks like a 3.5 or 3.7 inch TFT and it has a camera with flash. No other details are out yet; but we will keep you updated.

Check out this video by 247WindowsPhone.

RIM Might Set Up Server in India

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 08:07 AM PDT

Following the Indian Home Ministry and RIM security rift, earlier it was falsely reported that RIM had agreed to let Indian Government monitor BlackBerry service.

However, RIM failed to comment whether they agreed to it. Now, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) may ask Research in Motion (RIM), the manufacturer of BlackBerry, to set up a server in India as it has agreed in Saudi Arabia to help intercept the data on its phones.

RIM has nearly 1 million BlackBerry users in India and if it fails to deliver what the Indian Government wants, Indian Government might have to ban Blackberry services like in Saudi Arabia.

HTC Desire HD aka HTC Ace Video Leaked

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 07:00 AM PDT

An Italian website has leaked a 90 second video of the upcoming HTC Desire HD, which also goes by the name HTC Ace. The Ace will sport a unibody aluminum design with a 4.3-inch WVGA widescreen display, and run on Android 2.2 (Froyo). Under the hood, the Ace will house a meaty 1GHz Qualcomm processor.

When it comes to appearance, the Ace bears a closer resemblance to the HD2 than the Desire. It also packs a 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash that is capable of capturing HD (720p) video. Unfortunately, HTC has decided to continue with its annoying practice of placing the 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom of the handset.

The HTC Desire HD is still probably a few months away. We will have to wait to learn more about it. However, it is already shaping up to be another impressive Android handset from the Taiwanese manufacturer.

Sony Ericsson “Smarter Is Coming” Countdown

Posted: 09 Aug 2010 05:41 AM PDT

It looks like Sony Ericsson have something up their sleeves. The Japanese company has put a countdown timer on their website with the "Smarter is coming" tagline. Below the countdown timer is the image of a mysteriousSony Ericsson Xperia device. According to GSMArena, this mysterious Xperia device is none other than the Xperia X10.

The folks increased the brightness of the image in a photo editing software, and compared the picture to an Xperia X10. The similarity between the two devices were more than enough to confirm that the mysterious device is the Xperia X10. Maybe Sony Ericsson is talking about the Android 2.1 update for the Xperia X10 here? After all, the update to the Android 2.1 OS will bring with it tons of new features to the X10. The Android 2.1 update will surely make the Xperia X10  "smarter".

Sony Ericsson has already promised 720p HD video recording, DLNA and improved Timescape and MediaScape with the Android 2.1 update.  The company promised to release the update sometime in Q3 of this year. We will come to know about this in 13 hours from now. Keep patience until then folks!

Motorola Droid 2 Pricing Leaked by Best Buy

Posted: 08 Aug 2010 11:40 PM PDT

Verizon has said precious little about Motorola Droid 2 – the highly anticipated successor to the smartphone that is widely credited for kick starting the Android revolution. However, the steady supply of leaks and rumors has ensured that we already know a fair amount about it.

A North Carolina Best Buy store was careless enough to put dummy units of the new Droid on display. As you can see from the snap procured by Engadget, the Droid 2 will be available for $199.99 with a two year contract and for $599.99 without. There is nothing shocking about the pricing, but it’s always nice to have some confirmation.

The Droid 2 is expected to be launched on August 12, and will have Froyo (Android 2.2) right of the bat.
