Poonam Jhawar Almost Bares It All Hot Pictures

Posted: 24 Dec 2010 03:30 PM PST

Poonam Jhawar was written off and wiped out from anyone's memory when the girl sprang back into headlines recently by bagging a role based on corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, who is currently facing the heat for 2G telecom spectrum scam.

In case you don't know who Poonam is, here's the lowdown. Poonam is most famous for her dare-bare acts in a number of B-grade music videos like "Tauba Tauba Kya Hoga" or "Kis Kis Ko Batao". She's also produced a film titled Aanch, in which she played the leading role.

Now, she's bagged the lead role in the upcoming film titled '2G Radia-tion'. The film will chronicle the rise of a corporate lobbyist, to be played by Poonam. The role is roughly based on Nira Radia.

It's quite amusing that the girl known for dropping her clothes should have been chosen to play Radia. We think her slight facial resemblance to Radia may have got Poonam the role.

Bollywood’s top films of the year 2010

Posted: 24 Dec 2010 03:07 PM PST

Hits and blockbusters of the year
2010 is coming to an end, and as we look back at the films that came out this year, one name that promptly comes to mind is Salman Khan's blockbuster Dabangg. The film, immensely liked by the audience, did a mind-boggling business of around Rs 145 crore and is the top film of the year.

Though Shahrukh Khan's much-hyped film My Name Is Khan also churned out approx Rs 80 crore, it can't be dubbed a super duper hit. Then there were films that impressed the audiences as well critics. Aamir Khan's small-budget film Peepli [Live] is already in the Oscar race; Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai was a riveting revisit to the underworld of the 70s; Raajneeti gave Mahabharata a Godfather twist; and Housefull provided some silly laughs.

From the point of view of business, 2010 was the year of few hits and many flops. Trade reports say the industry is struggling with massive loss of approx Rs 300 crores in average. Bollywood released 180 films this year and audiences are still waiting for Tees Maar Khan.

Vidya Balan is getting bolder in Ragini MMS

Posted: 24 Dec 2010 03:04 PM PST

Vidya Balan is getting bolder, surely if her choice of roles is to go by.

The buzz is that Vidya has all but agreed to play the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's film Ragini MMS, which is a based on a bold subject and will have many explicit scenes. In fact, Kapoor had previously talked with Kangana Ranaut for the role, but the actress had chickened out as she wasn't in the mood to do something so bold.

Now, Vidya is Ekta's best bet. Why? Because Vidya is already acting in Dirty Picture, which is based on the life of the south sex bomb Silk Smitha.

The spokesperson for Ekta's company has refused to confirm or deny the fact that Vidya has been approached, which means a deal is indeed in the works.

Toonpur Ka Superrhero - Movie Review | Watch online Trailer and Mp3 songs

Posted: 24 Dec 2010 03:02 PM PST

The Currentblips movie review of Toonpur Ka Superrhero. There's less to film-stars than meets the eye. Aditya (Ajay Devgan), an action star, bashes up a dozen baddies and pulls off the scariest of stunts with the fly-swatting ease on screen, but in real life, he's anything but a hero for his kids. They know that their dad gets the credit for what the stuntmen do. In reality, the superstar Aditya is an ordinary soul, who can't even bowl.

Aditya itches to be a hero for his kids. Opportunity knocks when he's kidnapped by a bunch of cartoons from Toonpur. The animated characters called Devtoons adore Aditya's onscreen bravado and want him to fight their enemies Toonasurs, led by the devilish Jagaro. To their dismay, the action star Aditya turns out to be a wimp.

Meanwhile, Aditya spots the chance to be a hero in the eyes of his kids, so he takes the battle to the evil Toonasurs, literally pummelling them in a Gladiator like duel until he comes face-to-face with Jagaro.

Obvious question - Is the film entertaining enough? Well, yes if you happen to be a preteen who just clambered up the chair to read this review. No, if you are a grown-up teen hooked to watching superheroes in their undies.

Directed by Kireet Khurana, Toonpur Ka Superrhero is strictly a kids' film, conceptualized and crafted particularly to tickle the giggly ha-ha, he-he types. To a soberer mind, the animated characters are clichéd cardboard cutouts. Like there's this obese, Gujarati spouting aunty Big Ben, or the provocatively dressed, busty and far from size-zero Loveena, or the Marathi hawaldar Pandu, or the Bollywood loving sardar boy Bolly, or the plump, bling-laden musician Guppy, or the computer geek Lappy, or the sagacious Gyandev.

A few sequences will have the kids in splits, like the one where Devgn dresses up as a cowboy and rides an ostrich. The screenplay is twisted to convenience in the closing reels, to include the hero's entire family in the final combat. But more than its plot, what makes Toonpur Ka Superrhero work is the quality animation work that it boasts of.

Ajay Devgan doesn't really bring the house down with his comedy but is quite good as the reel hero trying to be one in real - rather cartoon - world. Kajol, playing his wife, gets a brief role, and the two kids are just about watchable.

Tees Maar Khan Movie Review, mp3 songs, Wallpaper

Posted: 24 Dec 2010 02:57 PM PST

Finally, ahead of Christmas, the theatres are seeing footfalls aplenty from cinegoers, thanks to Farah Khan's latest film Tees Maar Khan.

As the initial box office reports trickle in, it's clear that the movie starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif has opened to a huge response at ticket windows. The advance booking of the film at many urban centres has been exceptionally well, and the film opened to packed houses almost everywhere. At places the occupancy was 90 percent, but that's as good as housefull.

Though the film hasn't garnered very favourable reviews, it is likely see to a good weekend, considering that Saturday and Sunday are holidays, followed by the New Year's Eve in the coming days.

Tees Maar Khan opens to packed houses and theaters

Posted: 24 Dec 2010 02:56 PM PST

The Currentblips movie review of Tees Maar Khan. 'Sheila Ki Jawani' is fun, but 'Tawaif ki luti izzat' overdone. Likewise, director Farah Khan's third baby Tees Maar Khan is a joke stretched too far, with she poking fun at all and sundry from Hollywood to apna Bollywood, be it Manoj Day Ramalan shooting a jingoistic  Brit-bashing period piece in rural Dhulia, or an Oscar-obsessed actor Aatish Kapoor (Akshaye Khanna) ruing his missed chance to work with Danny Doyle in Dumbdog. And ah! there's also Chunky Pandey in chaddi dancing to the raunchy cameo 'Choli mein Holi'.

If you haven't got the drift yet, let's take the lid off this part-funny-part-frustrating piece of campiness which is clearly the remake of the 1966 Italian clunker 'After The Fox' (starring the inimitable Peter Sellers), but quite absurdly credits Farah's hubby and the film's editor Shirish Kunder for writing the story.

Tabrez Mirza Khan aka Tees Maar Khan (Akshay Kumar) is a most wanted con man. With his sheer cunning or the stupidity of his captors, he slips out from the police net every time he's nabbed. He's got three bumbling sidekicks and a beautiful girlfriend Anya (Katrina Kaif) who's a small time item girl with the dream of becoming a big star and even work with mega star Aatish Kapoor (Akshaye Khanna).

Tabrez takes the seemingly impossible task of looting 10,000 kgs of antique items from a train. He hits upon an idea. Pretending as the director named Manoj Day Ramalan, he ropes in Aatish for a patriotic film whose plot centres on looting a train full of British antique goodies. The shooting is done in Dhulia, from where the train passes, and the whole village offers to assist in the shoot, and the loot.

It's a great plot to be spun into a masala Bollywood fare, and Farah Khan, the undisputed diva of farce, gets it spot on in the first half. Her aim, like it has always been as a director, is to provide non-stop, side-splitting entertainment, through any and every brand of humour - crass, ribald, or plain tongue-in-cheek - while caring not a hoot for cinematic sense and sensibility. Logic be damned! It's the flair with which the gags are unleashed that matters. And the humour, though not of the thigh-slapper potency, does work in the first half. But as the post-intermission reels are unspooled, the pace slackens and the viewers break into a collective fit of yawns.

The story comes to a grinding halt which neither Akshay nor his namesake Akshaye, despite their heft at humour, are able to break out of. So they are made to do silly things like rob a bank or a chase a headless horseman (from Sleepy Hollow) while a simpering Katrina dabs her face with layers and layers of make-up. And oh! she also has a Marilyn Monroe moment where a gust of wind sends her skirt flying upward. Thankfully, Yana Gupta wasn't cast in the role.
