Thank you all so much!

Posted: 13 Jun 2010 07:59 AM PDT

Thank you all so much for the wonderful birthday wishes. I had such a great day!

We spent the morning working on the apartment. We got about 90% of her items put up. (Only things we didn’t get to were the things that go in her room.) She left Texas at 5 am so she would make it home in time to watch the kids for me. She arrived about 3 pm and we met her outside. We had her open the door and we had piled the remainder of her boxes right by the front door. She cracks the door open and I see her face fall when she spotted the boxes. But then she got the door completely open and her face lit up. She was so shocked. She couldn’t believe how much we accomplished. I showed her all her closets including her craft closet. She almost started jumping up and down when she saw it. It was hilarious.

Then I let Steven (the 15 year old nephew) open the door to his bedroom and his face was the best. His mouth dropped open and his eyes got as full as saucers. He was absolutely flabbergasted at his room. He spun around and gasped at each wall. Then he started jumping up and down and screaming “Thank you Aunt Krissy! Thank you Aunt Krissy!” I think he must of thanked me at least 30 times in a 20 minute span. It was so great to be able to do something like that for someone that truly appreciates you.

My mother in law lives in a tiny town that is 20 minutes from Walmart. The only grocery store they have is a Piggly Wiggly. So my husband and I ran in there to get them something to make for dinner and a few odds and ends. Almost every price in that store was 50 cents higher then what we pay at Walmart. It was INSANE! Luckily I am going to be doing the majority of shopping for both households.

We left her house at 4:30 and headed towards downtown Birmingham. We stopped at Red Lobster for dinner (my family has a tradition of eating at Red Lobster only on our birthdays. So it’s very special to me.). We had an amazing dinner and the best waitress. It was $50! Ouch! But my Grandmother sent me $50 for my birthday so that evened out.

We got to the civic center before they opened the doors (we are very punctual people) and headed to our seats. We were 4 rows up the stadium seats (we weren’t on the floor). We were busy people watching when the family in front of us arrived. They had just gotten back from Disney World too! We had the best chat while we waited for the show to start.

First up was Sons of Sylvia and bless their hearts but I couldn’t understand most of the music they sang. They were like rock bluegrass or whatever. Not my cup of tea…

Then we were waiting for Craig Morgan to perform and all the sudden we saw him leap onto a chair about 10 feet from us and scream “Are you ready to party?!?” and let me tell you…. that man is HOT. I really enjoyed myself watching him perform. He did a GREAT job.

Finally it was time for Carrie Underwood and she did not disappoint! Her voice is just as strong and clear in person and she is on her albums. We really enjoyed watching her perform. There were a few surprises during her show but what tickled me was how many times she checked her engagement ring. Of course I’d be checking it too if I had a 1.3 million dollar ring on my finger.

We got home around 11:45 and went straight to bed. It was so weird to not have kids crawl into bed with us this morning. We were still up at 7 am though. Blah! Then it was off to Mother in Law’s to pick up the kids.

One thing I observed at the concert…. She had about 7,000 fans there. I have 8600 fans on Facebook. It was so awesome to be able to visualize how many people are fans of me. It’s such an honor to have amazing readers like you guys!

Today, I am working most of the day although I do have to run a few errands with her later. Thanks again for all the great birthday wishes! You guys rock!!
