Oxygen Levels in the Gulf of Mexico

Researchers are testing Gulf of Mexico waters for levels of oxygen. Although oxygen levels are down none of the areas tested would qualify as a “dead zone”. The low levels are a response to oxygen consumed by the microbes that are breaking down tiny particles of oil.

Two Asteroids to Pass Near Earth on Sept 8th

“Two asteroids, several meters in diameter and in unrelated orbits, will pass within the moon’s distance of Earth on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Both asteroids should be observable near closest approach to Earth with moderate-sized amateur telescopes. Neither of these objects has a chance of hitting Earth.” – Quoted from the NASA news release.
