How To Downgrade iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch

Apple released  earlier today. If you haven’t upgraded yet, you can use these iOS 4.1 direct download links to download and upgrade to the latest OS from Apple.

However, there is no iOS 4.1 jailbreak available yet and if you have upgraded to iOS 4.1 you might lose your jailbreak and unlock on the or .

The steps to downgrade iOS 4.1 to or lower on your , iPhone 3GS,  iPhone 3G and possibly on your iPod Touch. For the entire article visit our earlier post on downgrading iOS 4.1 which has full instructions and help to downgrade iOS 4.1 to a lower version.

You may also refer to our secondary guide for downgrading iOS which has tons of helpful comments on solving various problems related to the downgrade or look at some common errors including 3194/1015 while restoring iPhone.

Please note that you will require the SHSH blobs from iOS 4.0.1 to downgrade iOS 4.1. If you haven’t upgraded to iOS 4.1 yet, you can first backup your iOS 4 SHSH Blobs so that you can recover later.

iOS 4.1 Jailbreak/Unlock Under Development, Might Take Time

for and was released earlier today (iOS 4.1 Direct Download Links) and it looks like the jailbreak for iOS 4.1 might take longer than usual. According to some updates from the Dev Team, an exploit for iOS 4.0.1 was found found when 4.1 went live.

Crazy timing that @pod2g got latest exploit just as 4.1 went public (lots of work left…keep away from 4.1 for now!)

A concrete jailbreak for iPhone or Unlock for iPhone is not yet available and the Dev Team even went ahead and posted about the iOS 4.1 update being a trap to possibly permanently get rid of jailbreaks and unlocks, you can read the post here.

There is no release date available on the iOS 4.1 jailbreak, however, considering that iOS 4.1 beta versions were already jailbroken, it might come out sooner than expected.

If you have a jailbroken iPhone or jailbroken iPod Touch you are advised to stay away from this update. A jailbreak/unlock for iOS 4.1 should be available shortly.

We will keep an eye for updates from the Dev team on new jailbreaks/unlocks for iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 4.1. Stay tuned.

Apple just released the update for and users and it has several new features including Game Center, TV Rentals, iTunes Ping and more.

If you are not able to get the update through iTunes, you can also download the iOS 4.1 update directly to your PC and Mac and use it to install it on your iPhone and iPod Touch.

Use Google Instant on Android Phones

At the press conference today, Google promised that would be available on Mobile devices starting this fall, however, it looks like you can start using it right away at-least on based phones.

To use Google Instant on your Android based cellphone, type in the URL http://jmt20.google.com/m?sky=psy in your Android browser. You might have to refresh the page a few times before you can start using the Google Instant Search. For easier access, you can set this URL as your home page too.

I tried this out on an and it did not work, so guess other phone users will have to wait till fall.

RIM Acquires Majority of DataViz Assets including Documents To Go

DataViz, which recorded its big break by making the acclaimed app Documents To Go for Palm WebOS has changed its course and its recent acquisition by RIM has redefined its existence. Documents To Go was one of Apple’s best-selling apps for the iOS in 2009 and is available for the competing platforms like Google Android too.

In a statement on this acquisition to Digital Daily, RIM announced,

RIM has acquired some of the assets of DataViz and hired the majority of its employees to focus on supporting the BlackBerry platform.

Digital Daily has written further saying,

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the transaction was not material to RIM in the context of RIM's financial results.

John Paczkowski at AllThingsDigital speculates that the setback of the development of Documents To Go on WebOS can be mirrored onto the iPhone and Android platforms as well. There is a very good chance that RIM may make the app a Blackberry exclusive.

The deal is estimated at $50 million. Now this is a price worth paying as Documents To Go can completely revamp the functional aspects of Blackberry. However, even more than the app itself, RIM has acquired an excellent development team in the form of a huge number of DataViz employees.

Nokia will be unleashing the to the world at their upcoming Nokia World 2010 conference in London. Though there have been several videos of the Nokia N8 released previously, they have now released an interactive Sneak Peek Video of the Nokia N8.
