Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Not To Get Froyo Update?

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 10:00 AM PDT

Quite a while ago, Sony Ericsson had promised that the whole Xperia X10 family will be getting the Android 2.1 upgrade love by Q3 of this year. The company had also stated that the Éclair update with bring with it many new features to the X10 like 720p HD video recording with continuous auto focus.Xperia Roadmap Many X10 owners must have anticipated that they will be getting the Android 2.2 update sometime in Q1 next year.

However, a leaked Xperia upgrade document suggests otherwise. According to the leaked document, the 2.1x update will be the last software/Android update for the whole Xperia Android family. According to the leaked document, the last update (2.1x) will update the TimeScape and MediaScape applications on the Xperia handsets. This update will also add DLNA feature to the X10.

It might be possible that the document may have a second page whose snapshot did not leak on the Internet. Hopefully, Sony Ericsson will bring Android 2.2 to the X10 and its siblings.

Video Of HTC Sense Running On WP7 Surfaces

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 08:58 AM PDT

When Microsoft had announced its next generation Mobile OS – Windows Phone 7, it had stated that handset manufacturers won't be able to run their home-brewed UI on top of the OS like HTC Sense etcetera.HTC Sense WP7 Now, the folks over at Engadget have bumped across a video which shows the highly popular HTC Sense running on a WP7 handset. The video has a "HTC Confidential" and "For Internal Use Only" trademarked on it.

After watching the leaked video, I am totally speechless. The 3D effects are just mind BLOWING! The 3D effects on the Notes UI definitely look stellar. The Weather and the Stocks application also have a very polished UI. It would be interesting to see if HTC actually pre-loads their WP7 phones with HTC Sense UI.

With the holiday season fast approaching, I expect LG, Samsung, Asus and HTC to announce a bunch of WP7 based phones soon!

Apple Approves Google Voice App in the App Store

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 07:16 AM PDT

GV Connect - iPhoneWhen Google Voice was first launched, it was a huge hit among users. It was the perfect service for those who wanted to manage several numbers and wanted advanced features like online voicemail, transcription and call routing, screening and blocking.

The excitement reached a whole new level when Google Voice apps became available for the iPhone and Android devices. However, Apple soon pulled them off the App Store for duplicating the native features of the iPhone. Many iPhone users were angry at first and a few even shifted to the Android platform.

Now, though, it seems that Apple has started allowing Google Voice apps in the App Store again.

GV Connect is the first Google Voice app which has been approved by the App Store gatekeepers. It is a $2.99 app which provides support for calls, SMS and voicemail features via Google Voice.

Even the GV Mobile app will probably be approved soon.

Check out the official GV Connect website for more details.
