| Obama Has Not Spoken to BP CEO Because ... Board Calls The Shots Posted: 13 Jun 2010 01:24 PM PDT Two months after the massive and continuing BP oil spill/leak Obama has still not spoken to BP's CEO. Previously when the White House's clean up efforts have had some strange gap/flaw in them the administration takes steps to render the point mute; generally by doing what was suggested, even if it does so later then it should since it needed the prompting. Here however they are doubling down on not speaking to the CEO. An exit question if I may; what exactly does the Obama administration think the CEO of a company does? Video embedded below. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/06/gibbs-obama-hasnt-talked-to-ha.html "When President Obama was asked by NBC's Matt Lauer why he had not yet called the CEO of BP about the Gulf oil spill, he said he assumed CEO's just told presidents things they wanted to hear. On Wednesday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs had another answer. Gibbs said Obama hasn't called CEO Tony Hayward because -- according to what Gibbs called the "executive structure of corporate governance" -- the CEO alone isn't the final word on company decisions, which are made by the board of directors. "Look, the CEO is elected by the board. Anything that the CEO wants to do has to be approved by the board," Gibbs said. Later, he added: "I'm telling you, based on the corporate governance structure, in order to implement what -- whatever you get from BP the CEO has to get clearance from the board to do. That's -- that's the corporate governance structure is -- is laid out." So did that mean that Obama had picked up the phone to talk to some of these powerful board members? No." http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/06/10/breaking-president-obama-to-meet-with-bp-officials "Admiral Thad Allen in his role of National Incident Commander, sent a letter to BP inviting them to attend a meeting at the White House on Wednesday June 16. Allen specifically said in the letter that President Obama will attend part of the meeting. The letter reads, "As part of our ongoing communication, I request that you and any appropriate officials from BP, meet with senior Administration officials on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 to discuss these timely issues. President Obama will participate in a portion of this meeting." The letter comes as many have been pressing for the Obama administration to meet and speak directly with BP officials including CEO Tony Hayward, something President Obama said earlier this week he has not yet done." |
| ACORN Employees Tell FBI of Deliberate Election Fraud Posted: 13 Jun 2010 12:52 PM PDT This report should not be a surprise to anyone that has been paying attention since the last election cycle. Unless something is done the same thing is going to happen in the next cycle. Instead of the hand wringing something has to be done to stop them. http://dailycaller.com/2010/06/10/acorn-employees-tell-fbi-of-deliberate-election-fraud-according-to-new-documents "The radical activist group ACORN "works" for the Democratic Party and deliberately promotes election fraud, ACORN employees told FBI investigators, according to an FBI document dump Wednesday. The documents obtained by Judicial Watch, a watchdog group, are FBI investigators' reports related to the 2007 investigation and arrest of eight St. Louis, Mo., workers from ACORN's Project Vote affiliate for violation of election laws. All eight employees involved in the scandal later pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud. Project Vote is ACORN's voter registration arm. Project Vote continues to operate despite the reported dissolution of the national structure of ACORN. ... One employee told the FBI that ACORN headquarters is "wkg [working] for the Democratic Party." According to one report, an ACORN employee said the purpose of "[f]raudulent cards" was "[t]o cause confusion on election day to keep polls open longer," "[t]o allow people who can't vote to vote," and "[t]o allow to vote multiple times." Another report quotes an employee saying, "Project Vote will pay them whether cards fake or not – whatever they had to do to get the cards was attitude." Project Vote pays based on the number of cards and "that's why they were so reckless," the report says." |

| Obama to Support The UN Investigation of Israel? Posted: 13 Jun 2010 12:34 PM PDT I really hope this is not true, but past actions/statements suggest it probobly is. http://ace.mu.nu/archives/302557.php "And, of course, only Israel. THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that senior Obama administration officials have been telling foreign governments that the administration intends to support an effort next week at the United Nations to set up an independent commission, under UN auspices, to investigate Israel's behavior in the Gaza flotilla incident. The White House has apparently shrugged off concerns from elsewhere in the U.S. government that a) this is an extraordinary singling out of Israel, since all kinds of much worse incidents happen around the world without spurring UN investigations; b) that the investigation will be one-sided, focusing entirely on Israeli behavior and not on Turkey or on Hamas; and c) that this sets a terrible precedent for outside investigations of incidents involving U.S. troops or intelligence operatives as we conduct our own war on terror. Question Number One: Why are these damned Jews so stubborn about survival? Why can't they just get with the pogrom? I always say, lately, "It's easier to beg forgiveness than to secure permission." I can't help but think the "International Community's" plan for Israel -- and America is now part of that hateful "community" -- is to set in motion the gears which will destroy it. Problem solved! And then, once destroyed, the "International Community" can talk about how sad they are Israel has been destroyed." | World's Largest Radiotelescope Launched in Netherlands Posted: 13 Jun 2010 12:19 PM PDT Tectonically it is not the largest single unit since it is comprised of around 25,000 different antennas. The effect is if you had a single unit measuring 600 miles across. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.86c1ac9d54a51fd47b845663527a077d.1191&show_article=1 "Scientists in the Netherlands unveiled the largest radiotelescope in the world on Saturday, saying it was capable of detecting faint signals from almost as far back as the Big Bang. The LOFAR (LOw Frequency ARray) consists of 25,000 small antennas measuring between 50 centimetres and two metres across, instead of a traditional large dish, said Femke Boekhorst of the Netherlands Radioastronomy Institute. It is based near the northeastern Dutch town of Assen, but the antennas are spread out across the rest of the Netherlands and also in Germany, Sweden, France and Britain. "Today we have launched the biggest radiotelescope in the world. When you combine all the antennas you get a giant telescope with a diameter of about 1,000 kilometres (600 miles)," Boekhorst told AFP." |
| Obama Asks For Another $50 Billion For State And Local Aid Posted: 13 Jun 2010 12:14 PM PDT I thought the massive bailout was supposed to save/create these jobs. Is this an admission that it did not work? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/06/12/AR2010061204152.html "President Obama urged reluctant lawmakers Saturday to quickly approve nearly $50 billion in emergency aid to state and local governments, saying the money is needed to avoid "massive layoffs of teachers, police and firefighters" and to support the still-fragile economic recovery. In a letter to congressional leaders, Obama defended last year's huge economic stimulus package, saying it helped break the economy's free fall, but argued that more spending is urgent and unavoidable. "We must take these emergency measures," he wrote in an appeal aimed primarily at members of his own party." |
| Obama - "My Power is Not Limitless" Posted: 12 Jun 2010 08:49 PM PDT I thought he was going to heal the plant... Video embedded below. "President Obama outlined the limits of his power to handle the oil spill in the latest episode of "West Wing Week," the casual weekly White House online show. "Even though I'm president of the United States, my power is not limitless," he told Grand Isle, La., locals in the video, released Friday. "So I can't dive down there and plug the hole. I can't suck it up with a straw. All I can do is make sure that I put honest, hard-working smart people in place ... to implement this thing." Scroll to 3:11 in the video to watch." |
| 'Reverse Aid Flotillas' Planned From Israel to the Kurds in Turkey Posted: 12 Jun 2010 08:44 PM PDT Turn about is fair play. This should also once again serve as a stark example of the massive double standards around the world when it comes to Israel, not that there are many objective people left who have not seen it already. http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=177789 "Although most of the recent talk regarding flotillas has revolved around ships sailing toward Gaza, at least two plans have emerged for "reverse flotillas" – from Israel toward Turkey – to highlight what organizers have labeled the Turks' "shameless hypocrisy" in their criticisms of the Jewish state. The most ambitious of the two plans has been devised by members of Israel's National Student Union, who this week announced their intention to set sail toward Turkey, in an effort to bring humanitarian aid to the "oppressed people of Turkish Kurdistan" and to members of the "Turkish Armenian minority."" | Protests in Iran on The Anniversary of The Stolen Election Posted: 12 Jun 2010 08:20 PM PDT A year ago a stolen election in Iran sparked the Iranian Revolution (GR88). This sad anniversary serves as a reminder that the most impressive real time communication tools are no match for an authoritarian thug with an army who did not think twice about brutally massacring their own people as the world just sat by and watched.
