No Jailbreak/Unlock For iOS 4.0.2 According to Dev Team

Apple recently released iOS 4.0.2 to patch an exploit used by Jailbreakme.com to jailbreak iPhone, and devices. However, the dev team has been silent on a jailbreak or unlock for the latest iOS, until today.

Earlier today, the dev team officially announced that they will not be working on a jailbreak or unlock for iOS 4.0.2 and will instead focus on doing the same for . Jailbreaks for iOS 4.1 beta is already available and there are several ways in which you can jailbreak you device.

The reason given by the dev team seems pretty reasonable:

Now it's a few weeks later, and Apple has closed the jailbreakme.com hole.  They're shipping devices with FW 4.0.2/3.2.2, impervious to this particular jailbreak.  So now, people will begin to ask: will there be a jailbreak for devices that shipped with 4.0.2/3.2.2, out of the box?

No, there won't be.  FW 4.0.2/3.2.2 was *only* released to fix the jailbreakme hole.  With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the "cat & mouse" with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes. To quote WOPR, "the only winning move is not to play".

So this means that if you have upgraded to iOS 4.0.2, you will have to wait till iOS 4.1 is released in order to be able to jailbreak and unlock your iDevice. However, if you had backed up your SHSH blobs, you can restore/downgrade iOS 4.0.2 to an earlier version.

SkyFire Browser iPhone App Store Submission Next Week

After Opera, the folks behind SkyFire have decided to release their browser for the iPhone. SkyFire is a very popular browser on many platforms due to its support for Flash, multiple tabs etcetera. According to MobileCrunch,Apple iPhone 4 the company behind SkyFire is soon going to submit their application for approval to the Apple's AppStore. According to their sources, they plan to submit the browser for approval as soon as early next week.

As of now, it is unknown what all features SkyFire browser for the iPhone will feature. The company is expected to announce its AppStore submission after the weekend ends. It will be interesting to see whether Apple will approve the SkyFire browser or not. Apple's AppStore policies clearly state that any application which competes with its own product won't be allowed on the AppStore. However, Apple had to approve the Opera Mini browser due to the heavy media pressure and because of the limelight the whole thing got.

HTC Droid Incredible Froyo Update Coming Tomorrow!

Droid-Life is reporting that Verizon is going to start rolling out the official Froyo OTA update for the Droid Incredible from tomorrow itself. I will now recommend users to wait for the OTA instead of flashing the leaked Android 2.2 update about which weclip_image001 reported a few minutes ago. Verizon has updated the Droid Incredible support page with full information about the Froyo update as well.

The Froyo update for the Incredible brings with it 'incredible' changes like 720p HD recording, 3G Mobile Hotspot, Flash Player 10.1 and a new boot screen. The Froyo update is also expected to improve the battery life of the device. This software update will also install Skype, VZ Navigator and My Verizon applications on your Incredible. The update will also enable the Wi-Fi n capability on the handset.

HTC Droid Incredible Android 2.2 Update Leaked

HTC are yet to announce the official release date of the Froyo rollout for the DroidHTC Droid Incredible Incredible. Earlier, rumors suggested that the Droid Incredible will get its Froyo love on August 18. However, that did not happen and Incredible owners are still waiting for HTC to announce the Froyo rollout date. Nevertheless, a full Froyo RUU has leaked on the Internet today.

Users who have rooted, as well as non-rooted phones can flash this firmware file. The Android 2.2 Update for the Droid Incredible will bring with it many new changes like 720p HD video recording, Flash Player 10.1, new Boot screen etcetera. Hopefully, Verizon will soon announce the official roll out date of the OTA Froyo update.

Remember The Milk iPhone App Now Free

Oh I love Remember The Milk and have been a big fan of it which is why it has also made it to my list of Best Online TODO Managers. However, I was disappointed when the RTM app for and was not available for free, though I would pony up the money, it still didn’t make sense when I could use the online interface.

However, here is some good news. If you have been a RTM fan, the RTM is now free to download and use. If you have a free RTM account, you will only be able sync your list manually once every 24 hours and will not get push notifications. If you already have a RTM pro account you will get unlimited auto-sync and push notifications.

However, you no longer need a pro account to download the free app. So if you have been waiting to get the RTM app for your iPhone or iPod Touch head over to this iTunes link. You will find more information about this announcement at the official RTM blog.

Nokia N8 To Launch On Mid-September In India

The wait is finally over for those who were eagerly waiting for the launch of Nokia N8 in India. Nokia India recently tweeted that the much awaited Nokia N8 is scheduled to launch on mid-September in India. Nokia N8 is already up for pre-order in the US, Germany, Spain, France, China and other markets. We are not sure when this handset will be available for pre-order in India.

Nokia N8 is the first smartphone which runs on Symbian^3 operating system.
