Disney World Training – Germany, United States and Japan

Posted: 05 Jul 2010 12:44 PM PDT

The World Showcase is probably my favorite place in all of Disney. I absolutely love the culture and experiences that you can have. I believe that this area of Disney is fun for all ages. My kids have a blast exploring and meeting the characters and my husband and I enjoy taking in all the scenes.

Germany

Character: Meet Snow White and sometimes Dopey!

Attractions: Be sure to check out the miniature train exhibit. The train hasn’t been running the last 2 times that we were there, but it sure is cute to look at!

Also look for the clock and watch the little dolls come out on the top of the hour.

Kidcot Station: Located in the Volkskunst store.

Movie: none.

Tasty Treats: Apple Strudel

United Sates of America

Character: None scheduled.

Attractions: Check out the American Flag that was pulled from the rubble of 9/11.

Also visit the rotunda. You can whisper on one side and someone will hear it on the other.

Kidcot Station: Near the American Village. Also check out the hedge maze while you are visiting this Kidcot station!

Movie: American Adventure Theatre

Tasty Treats: Funnel cakes!

Japan

Character: None scheduled

Attractions: Check out the toy museum and the Japanese gardens. Also in the Mitsukoshi Department Store you can choose an Oyster and keep the pearl for about $17!

Kidcot Station: Near the exit area of Mitsukoshi Department Store.

Movie:

Tasty Treats: Kaki Gori

Be sure to catch up on all the Disney Training posts as well as see a reading outline here.

Day 5 of No Dining July Challenge!

Posted: 05 Jul 2010 05:45 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here and the what’s for dinner posts here.

My progress:

We made a delicious roast for dinner last night. I usually cook mine in the crock pot, but MIL had me get the McCormick seasoning bag. Wow was it good! I don’t think you can go wrong with roast though.

We did go out to McDonald’s for lunch. I thought it would be fun for the kids to play and burn off some energy. I spent $16 for 5 people! (Love McDonald’s dollar nuggets!)

How are you doing?

Leave a comment and let me know!

My coupons are finally organized!

Posted: 05 Jul 2010 05:24 AM PDT

Well it took the better part of the weekend, but my coupons are finally organized! I feel so accomplished! (Of course now I am behind blogging. Maybe I can catch up on that today and feel very well balanced!)

This is the door of my coupon closet. I had an extra shoe organizer so I thought it would work great on the back of the door to organize items that I use constantly.

This is my coupon closet. (I’m a little nutty.) The top shelf contains a tub for throwing miscellaneous items into.
The next 2 shelves are my inserts organized by week. I get about 30 or so inserts a week from friends, family, recycling, etc.
The bottom shelf contains used flat rate boxes that I have cut to organize my printable coupons. I have one for scrap paper, one for coupons printed via Bricks software and one for Coupons.com. (If you are wondering, sometimes I have to print coupons that I don’t need to verify that they work before I post them on the blog.) I also have one of these boxes for inserts that only have 1 or 2 coupons that are good left in them. The blue basket is for free samples.
The bottom of the closet is just a bunch of miscellaneous stuff.

I also clipped and organized ALL the coupons I might need to use at the store in the next week. I went through both the Walmart and Target under $1 lists and cut out all the coupons. I organized these by putting them in order of expiration date in the holder. That way I don’t miss a deal because the coupon expired!

I also have the coupons for CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens and Publix organized for shopping trips this week. And the very last pocket is where I keep all my free coupons, organized by expiration date. I carry this organizer in my purse.

The plastic baggy contains all the retail and restaurant coupons. I never know where we might want to eat, so I just cut out all of them and carry them with me. I used to keep them in the purple organizer but it became too bulky. Also check out the cute purse I just got myself from The Disney Store. It was only $14.99! I love it.

This organizer contains 4 copies of every insert. It’s overstuffed really. I keep it in the car and if I come across a really great deal where I don’t have the coupons, I can run out to the car and cut them. (That doesn’t happen as often as you think.)

This is my cut coupons. I keep my inserts intact until I need coupons from them, but I accumulate a lot of loose coupons from the mail, samples, in the stores, etc etc. I have them organized by brand name. (Kraft Cheese is in K, Jimmy Dean is in J, etc.) I also have cut one copy of every insert and have it organized by week in the back. I do this so I can quickly determine if we got a coupon or not. (Since our coupons are not always the same as the rest of the country.) I also organize both of these categories by expiration date so that I can make sure that I use up all my coupons that are about to expire and it makes weeding out the expired coupons very easy!

And finally, this is the bag that I keep the above organizer in. Isn’t it cute? I ordered it from See Here when it was 50% off.

Having fun Geocaching on the 4th

Posted: 04 Jul 2010 01:00 PM PDT

So I recently learned about Geocaching and I thought it might be something that my nephew (he’s 15) would really enjoy. Geocaching is where people all over the globe have hidden small boxes, film canisters etc and put the geographical coordinates for it on the website Geocaching.com. You then plug in the coordinates into your GPS and hunt for it. When you find it, you sign the log and if it has trinkets in it, you take one out and put one in.

So today we went to the park and found our first cache. It wasn’t too hard to find. It was a small film canister and we wrote our name on the log that we found it.

Then we headed up the road and spent 20 minutes finding the next cache. It was in a Maxwell Coffee can and contained a bunch of trinkets. He picked out a police badge and we put in a pink rubber band (we had hardly NOTHING WITH US).

Then it was off to the Pet Cemetery for the next cache. It was really hard to find. That’s the one he is holding in his hand above. It was full of trinkets too. He picked a really neat dice and we put in a bottle cap.

Then we spent 30 minutes finding the last cache. It had blown out of it’s hiding place and it was in a green canister that blended in with the bushes. Finally found it, signed the log and put it back in it’s orginal spot.

It was a blast!!!!!!!!! So if you have a GPS (I actually put the Geocaching app on the iPhone), you might want to look into this free activity!

If you don’t have a GPS, you can participate in Letterboxing which is the same type of deal but without the need for a GPS.

So do any of you Geocache and how many have you found? What was your favorite find?
