How to earn with Swag Bucks

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 12:56 PM PDT

Search & Win

What is Swag Bucks?

Swag Bucks is a search engine that awards you in the form of Swag Bucks (points that can be traded in for prizes.) You can chose from a variety of prizes including gift cards. My favorite is a $5 Amazon.com gift card. It costs 450 Swag Bucks.

You get 30 Swag Bucks for joining and can win anywhere from 20 – 50 Swag Bucks a day if you search until you win in the morning and in the evening. I usually win within my first 5 searches. They also have Swag Codes out at least 5 times a week that can be worth 10 – 30 Swag Bucks. I always notify you of them on my blog when they are available.

To sign up, go here. Your account will be credited 30 Swag Bucks just for joining!

Here is how to earn more Swag Bucks:

Search

The key is to use Swag Bucks as a replacement for your current search engine. Use it frequently. One tip is to use it to visit websites. The second most popular source of traffic on my blog is via the Swag Bucks search engine because my readers are searching Couponing To Disney in the Swag Bucks search box to visit my website.

Browse Special Offers

You can earn bonus Swag Bucks just by browsing the special offers section every day!

Here’s how:
Look across the top of Swagbucks.com for the Ways to Earn option.
Select Special Offers from the drop down box.
Click on the blue box that says No Obligation Offers on the right side.
Scroll through these offers by clicking skip or next.
Once you get through about 3-7 offers it will alert you that you have received today’s bonus Swag Bucks.
You can do this every day!

Use the Swag Bucks Toolbar

Use the Swag Bucks toolbar everyday and you will earn at least 1 bonus Swag Buck a day! Plus there are often exclusive Swag Codes released on the toolbar.

Here’s how:
Go to Swagbucks.com and look down the menu on the left side.
Click on Toolbars at the bottom of the list.
Download and install the Toolbar.
Use it to search Swag Bucks, keep track of your earnings and more!

Complete Special Offers

Here’s how:
Look across the top of Swagbucks.com for the Ways to Earn option.
Select Special Offers from the drop down box.
Browse through the Special Offers on Wall 1, Wall 2 and Wall 3. Complete any that appeal to you. (I do not do that unless it’s free.)

Swag Codes

Swag Codes are bonus codes that you enter in the “Enter Your Swag Code” box on Swagbucks.com’s home page. When I know that there is a Swag Code out, I post a message here on the blog as well as on my Facebook and Twitter pages.

Swag Codes can vary in value. The most I have seen is 30 Swagbucks and the least I have seen is 4. But it’s nice to earn a bonus.

Follow Swag Bucks

Be sure to read their blog, and become a fan on Facebook and Twitter. They release Swag Codes on these media outlets.

Mega Swag Bucks Friday

Every Friday Swag Bucks offers a higher denomination of Swag Bucks to winners. Instead of the typical 10 – 30, you might win 50, 100 or more! Just by doing the searches you would do on a normal day!

Newsletter

Twice a month Swagbucks sends out a newsletter. These have a bonus Swag Code in them. To make sure you get the newsletter, you need to go to Swagbucks.com and click on Newsletter on the left side menu. It is almost the last item.

Shop through Swag Bucks

Swag Bucks offers you bonus bucks when you go through their website to do your shopping.

Just go to SwagBucks.com and click on Ways to Earn at the top. Then click on Shop and follow the instructions. (I do not do this. Instead I use Shop At Home.)

Trade In Old Electronics

Swag Bucks has a trade in program for your used electronics. Just go to SwagBucks.com and click on Ways to Earn at the top. Then click on Trade In and follow the instructions. (I do not do this. If I chose to trade in, I would go through Amazon, Walmart or Targets program that gives higher amounts in gift cards.)

Submit a Poll to Swag Bucks

Swag Bucks has a weekly poll. If you submit a topic and they use it, they will reward you with bonus Swag Bucks! You will find the Polls on the left hand menu of SwagBucks.com

Swag Bucks for Pictures and Videos

If you send them a picture of you with your prize or a video of you unboxing your prize, you get bonus Swag Bucks. You get 10 Swag Bucks for each prize photo and 20 swag Bucks for each video. You are limited to 5 of each type. Email it to prizephoto@swagbucks.com.
(Thanks Who Said Nothing In Life Is Free???)

Refer your friends

Swag Bucks has an awesome referral program. Refer your friends to Swag Bucks and when they win by searching, you win the same amount! (That means if your friend searches and wins 20 Swag Bucks, you will get 20 Swag Bucks too! You only win from their searches and there is a limit of 1000 Swag Bucks per referral. After they reach 1000 Swag Bucks, you will no longer receive credit.) There is no limit to how many friends you can refer.

To find your referral link, go to Swagbucks.com and click on promote and then select Invite Friends and Earn.

And the best part… Cashing in for prizes!

My absolute favorite prize is the Amazon.com gift card. They offer 3 different denominations ($5, $25 and $50. $5 is the best value, followed by $50 and then $25). You can get 5 of each a month. You are limited to only requesting 2 prizes a day, so to max out on Amazon gift card it takes 7.5 days.

Here’s how it works:

On Swagbucks.com home page, click on Rewards.
Then select Swag Store.
Then click on Rewards and Gift Cards.
Look for the Amazon.com gift cards.
Select the one you want and click redeem.
You will have to verify your purchase via email.

Swagbucks says they post the gift cards on the 16th and 30th of the month. But that is not always the case. If the date falls on a weekend or there is a holiday, it will be delayed.

When you receive your gift card codes, here is how to add them to your Amazon.com account.
Go to Amazon.com.
Click on Your Account in the top right corner.
Look for Gift Cards located in the Payment box.
Select this option: Apply a Gift Certificate/Card to Your Account.
You will see a box that says “Want to redeem a new gift card?”
Enter the code that Swag Bucks gave you for the gift card and click Redeem Now.
That gift card is now stored in your account as a balance. You can store as many gift cards as you want, it just adds them to the balance.
When you check out, it automatically applies your gift card balance to your order. (You can select for it not to).

Here’s an example of how it would work. You select a $50 gift card from Swag Bucks. You receive the gift card and follow the above instructions to add it to your Amazon.com account. You decide to purchase an item that is $30. You go through check out and it applies $30 of your gift card balance. You now have $20 left on your gift card balance. It’s that easy!

And that is all folks! If you have any questions or you found another way to earn Swag Bucks, let me know! I have been meaning to type this post up for ages so all the information could be in one spot.

Nielsen Home Scan Panel – Earn a Dooney and Bourke tote and more!

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 10:20 AM PDT

Nielsen (you know the people that track the TV ratings) has a program that tracks your shopping purchases called The Home Scan Panel.

Here’s how it works: Sign up here and upon approval they send you a scanner. You scan all the purchases you bring into your house, groceries, healthy and beauty, clothes, etc. (This is a fun thing to let the kids do!) Once a week, you hook the scanner up to your computer (or you can elect to get the scanner that submits it’s data over a landline) and in about a minute it transmits the data back to Nielsen.

You earn points for each weekly submission (150 points but it goes up the longer you’ve been a member) and then you also complete a short survey on each store you shopped at that week (100 points per store).

The points can be exchanged for a variety of prizes such as a Step 2 Easel for 34,000 pts (think Christmas) or Dooney & Bourke® Small Tulip Tassel Tote for 95,000 points (awesome!). They have over 250 prizes to choose from.

Are any of you already doing Home Scan?

Friday is Cow Appreciation Day at Chick Fil A!

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 09:19 AM PDT

Photobucket

Tomorrow, July 9th, is Cow Appreciation Day and Chickfila is giving away a free combo (breakfast, lunch or dinner!) to anyone who dresses like a cow!

If you are fully dressed as a cow from head to toe, you can pick either an adult or a kids meal for free!

If you are partially dressed as a cow (such as a vest, hat or purse), you can get an entree for free.

Chickfila even provides free printable cow pieces and parts on their website! Last year we printed out the pieces and put them on and then drew spots on us with a black washable marker. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all when we went and they even took a complimentary picture for us! We will definitely be going again tomorrow!

Day 8 of No Dining July!

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 04:59 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here and the what’s for dinner posts here.

My progress:

Had to run errands with Mother-in-law and stopped for lunch. Spent $21 at Logans and it was so good! Yum! Trying to make that the last out to eat trip for a while. Hubby is packing his lunch for today. :D

How are you doing?

Leave a comment and let me know!

Let’s Save Some Money – vampire appliances

Posted: 07 Jul 2010 04:08 PM PDT

Saving money….. now there’s a topic we all love. Most of you are here reading my blog because you want to save more money. We save at the grocery store and we save at the drug store. But there are lots of ways we could be saving and stretching our dollar……

Do you unplug items that you don’t use ? They call these vampire appliances and the average household has 20 of these in their house using electricity when they are NOT in use. They suggest you unplug everything from cell phone chargers to televisions that aren’t being watched. So what do you do in your house?

I wish we were more diligent about this! I’d love to have a cheaper power bill

Time for some childhood magic

Posted: 07 Jul 2010 03:59 PM PDT

30 minutes a day is all it takes. Getting creative and finding something unique to experience will your children every day. I just got a subscription to Family Fun magazine, plus I have a lot of activity books to do with the kids. So every day, you’ll find a post here about something big or small that I did to make my children’s childhood magical. After all, isn’t that what Disney is all about?

We took the kids out back to swim. They had a good time playing in the pool and they also played in the hose. So fun!

What did you do with your kids today?

The Swag Bucks Experiement

Posted: 07 Jul 2010 02:51 PM PDT

Search & Win

What is Swag Bucks?

Swag Bucks is a search engine that awards you in the form of Swag Bucks (points that can be traded in for prizes.) You can chose from a variety of prizes including gift cards. My favorite is a $5 Amazon.com gift card. It costs 450 Swag Bucks.

How long does it really take you to earn 450 Swag Bucks?

I am launching the Swag Bucks experiment! I’ll be posting a recap every day of how many I win….

There’s a Swag Code out on the blog right now!

It’s worth 15 Swag Bucks and I just figured it out. Go here to figure it out for yourself and then put it in the Swag Code box on the main page! Expires at 6 pm cst!

What I have earned since July 7th (39 out of 450):

I just earned 15 Swag Bucks for the above code! I also won 14 Swag Bucks in a search!

12 a day in 31 days!

Posted: 07 Jul 2010 02:46 PM PDT

Over the past year we have emailed 360 companies with the 5 a Day program. That’s a huge accomplishment! But I know a lot of my readers are new to this program and eager to follow along.

As most of you know, my mother in law just moved to town and she is eager to give this a try. So for the next 31 days, we will be emailing 12 companies a day off the spreadsheet. This is in addition to the regular 5 a Day that I will be posting! By the end of a month, you will have a mailbox full of awesome coupons and be ahead of the game!

So who’s with me?

Today we are emailing #49 to #60 on the spreadsheet. If you need ideas on what to write or not quite sure what this is all about, be sure to read this.

Post here when you are done!
