BGR Says Apple PR Lied About Steve Jobs Email on iPhone 4

Posted: 03 Jul 2010 05:35 PM PDT

If you have been following the happenings in the mobile world for past 1 week, you might have definitely come across a story of an irate customers email exchange with Steve Jobs which was published on BGR.

Now, after the BGR story was published several other blogs caught up on it, however, there were few blogs like AppleInsider and Engadget who said that the story was false and that Steve Jobs never had an email exchange with the said person. Apple even went ahead and published an open letter about poor network reception which was not convincing enough.

Now after a few days since that post and all the Apple PR machinery denials, BGR has come up with another post, which claims that the entire story is true and still holds. They even went to the extent of saying that they had paid the person in question and have also accessed his Google Apps account to verify the authenticity of the emails.

Faking emails is definitely possible and easy, however, it is definitely hard to spoof IP addresses and according to BGR those were pretty much leading to Steve Jobs himself. Agreed that Apple is having a hard time with the 4 Antenna issues, however, is it fair for them to start lying about things to the world and their customers or do you still think that the BGR story is somehow fake?

5 Billion Active Mobiles By 2010 End

Posted: 03 Jul 2010 05:14 PM PDT

There is no doubt that smartphones has exploded into the market making its way into the pockets of users and replacing several desktop and laptops in the process. Mobiles which were a replacement for landline phones have quickly grown from being a device you make a phone call from to becoming a device you can almost do pretty much everything with, at-least in a basic way.

However, the mobile growth has not yet peaked and it will continue to grow in the coming years. According to a recent study by ABI Research, the total number of active mobile connections is expected to grow to 5 billion by 2010 end.

Most of the growth is expected to be registered in Africa and Asia-Pacific regions. India, which has one of the largest mobile population had already crossed 529 million users sometime back and now has more than 600 million mobile subscribers. At the same time the Africa telecom industry has also been growing at an healthy pace.

In addition to this, developing nations like India and Africa also have several choices with low-end handsets being launched there every day. This in turn makes it easier for people to get their hands on a mobile phone. The 5 billion mobile mark will definitely be a huge milestone, considering that 5 billion people may not even have access to broadband internet.

This number might grow significantly in future when more internet tablets are launched. Though internet devices may not be mobile phones, they are pretty close to the features you can find in one. However, the smartphone growth may not be as dramatic in developing nations due to the cost.

It was just a couple of days ago, that HTC had released an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update for the HTC EVO 4G. Now, the company will soon be rolling out another firmware update for the HTC Droid Incredible. Droid-Life has got some leaked information about the upcoming firmware update with pictures and video from some credible source.

The firmware update will bring with it – 720p HD video recording to the Incredible. Along with HD video recording, the update will also bring 3G hotspot feature to the phone. Hopefully, the performance and the stability of the phone will also improve with this update. The bootup screen of the phone has also been changed to the “Droid” Red eye bootup.

Sadly, there is no specified timeframe when the firmware update will be available. Hopefully, the firmware update will hit the Incredible users sometime within a few weeks.
