| Warid Delivery Reports are Back, No, They are Not! Posted: 01 Jul 2010 12:12 PM PDT Warid Delivery Reports are Back, No, They are Not! is a post from: ProPakistani Just now, Warid has enabled SMS delivery reports on its network, which were blocked three weeks ago. Warid had taken back delivery reports without communicating the reasons or the date for turning them back on. As per multiple reports from ProPakistani readers, Warid SMS Delivery Reports got back at 12:00 AM tonight – and that too without any charges and/or subscription. and then disappeared again at 12:20 AM. Warid SMS Delivery Reports are offered to all subscribers by default as a free service (at least for now). Warid customers had protested over the termination of SMS Delivery Reports, while many had threatened the company to port out. Ufone charges Rs. 10 plus tax per month for SMS delivery reports. Update: We are getting reports from readers that Warid Delivery Reports are again gone – so apparently it was a just a system glitch, which can further annoy the customers. Warid customer support said that Delivery Reports are temporarily disabled till any further notice. Related posts:

| India is Likely to Ban Gmail, Skype and Blackberry Posted: 01 Jul 2010 07:45 AM PDT India is Likely to Ban Gmail, Skype and Blackberry is a post from: ProPakistani
Indian government is yet to call the mentioned companies for implementation of orders – without what it is saying these companies are helping terrorists in the country with secure and encrypted communication. Google has said that it hasn't received any such communication from DoT (Department of Telecom), while Skype said that if banned, it will be "a big step backward". Reports say that Indian Government has also decided to amend the IT laws to make it mandatory for foreign companies that do not require a local license to provide all the data required by Indian law enforcement agencies. Such a law would force companies such as Skype to give complete access to their networks or set up a local server in India to allow security agencies to track content. Similar concerns were raised against Blackberry devices two years ago but the issue was put on the backburner. However, Government sources indicated that this time the concerns of the intelligence agencies will have to be addressed by all means. Google, Skype and Blackberry may never share their data with third-party, based on their privacy policy, however, loosing a market like India may make them think otherwise. In any case, it is going to be a huge decision. It merits mentioning here that Google has already started bowing before Chinese Government over a much hyped dispute. Related posts:

| Posted: 01 Jul 2010 03:12 AM PDT Hamid Farooq Joins PTCL is a post from: ProPakistani
Mr. Hamid played key role in building Warid Telecom from scratch. He was the founding member and CEO of the company until he resigned in 2007 due to untold but obvious reasons. Before his recent appointment at PTCL, Hamid Farooq served a Hong Kong based research firm. He has served Mobilink in the past too as EVP and Chief Financial Officer from 1993 to 2004. Hamid Farooq's appointment made him join his old Warid mates including Naveed Saeed, Javed Mushtaq and others. However, his old time differences with Naveed Saeed are reportedly intact – mainly due to a reason that customer support was previously under Naveed Saeed, which is now given to Hamid Farooq. PTCL has confirmed us his appointment, however, Hamid Farooq's official website hasn't got this update. Related posts:
