Giveaway: Wanchai Ferry Prize Pack Posted: 30 Jun 2010 01:31 PM PDT Recently I had the opportunity to try the new Wanchai Ferry Beef & Broccoli frozen entree (for 2) – touted as restaurant quality Asian food for nights when you want to eat in. I do not typically purchase frozen meal kits, so I was intrigued to try this out – especially because it is difficult for us to get out to restaurants right now with a baby in the house! Last night I was on my own for dinner and decided to give this a try. I found the meal to be incredibly easy to prepare – all that I had to do was open the bag and pour the frozen beef and vegetables (broccoli, red peppers and water chestnuts) into a saute pan with water. After about 8 minutes of cooking, I added a brown sauce packet to the pan, and threw a bag of rice into the microwave. This was my first time microwaving rice and I wasn’t sure what to expect! In about 15 minutes the meal was ready to assemble. I’ll admit that I didn’t have the highest of expectations, but this meal ended up tasting surprisingly good. The rice was similar in texture to rice that you find at an Asian restaurant and I found the flavors of the meal to be pleasing. The beef wasn’t as tender as I would have liked, but on the whole I enjoyed the meal. I will say that the portions are definitely for 2 – and that they are small compared to restaurant portions (not necessarily a bad thing!). I found the food to taste fresh and I like that there is no added MSG in this product. It’s hard to beat takeout Chinese food, but this is a good alternative if you aren’t able to grab takeout and are craving Asian food. In addition to the new Beef & Broccoli entree from Wanchai Ferry, be sure to try the new Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Style Chicken. These 3 varieties join five other varieties including Orange Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, Spicy Garlic Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Right now you can print a $1.60/1 coupon for Wanchai Ferry entrees here. Also check out the Wanchai Ferry website here for meal tips to enhance your Wanchai Ferry frozen entrée.
