Have you been to the Dollar Tree lately?

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 12:00 PM PDT

I was in the Dollar Tree over the weekend and I saw the cutest display of tons of Toy Story 3 items. I ended up getting the kids 3 of the 100 count puzzles. Have you seen all the Disney items they are carrying now? I always stock up on some before our trips to cut down on souvenir buying.

The Swag Bucks Experiment

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 11:34 AM PDT

I just won 36 Swag Bucks!

What is Swag Bucks?

Swag Bucks is a search engine that awards you in the form of Swag Bucks (points that can be traded in for prizes.) You can chose from a variety of prizes including gift cards. My favorite is a $5 Amazon.com gift card. It costs 450 Swag Bucks. You can read a very long, detailed post on everything Swag Bucks related here.

What is the Swag Bucks Experiment?

Every day I will let you know how many Swag Bucks I personally win! We’ll see how long it really takes me to win 450 Swag Bucks (equivalent to one $5 Amazon.com code).

50 Swag Bucks won in searches
15 Swag Bucks awarded from Swag Codes
10 Swag Bucks for completing a survey
1 Swag Bucks for view special offers
1 Swag Buck for voting in a poll

77 Swag Bucks earned since 7.7.10

Let’s Save Some Money – Product Guarantees

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 11:12 AM PDT

Have you noticed the product guarantee on the back of products? Almost every product you buy has some kind of guarantee with it. They might replace the product, a part, offer service, etc, but it is up to you to ask for it.

Recently my friend Maria had a hose nozzle break. It was a generic one she had purchased from Ace Hardware. When she went to buy another one, they informed her of the product guarantee. As long as she keeps the original packaging and receipt, they will replace the product if it breaks! (A lot of stores offer this, you just need to ask about it.)

We recently bought my husband a pair of dress shoes with gel insoles. The gel broke and I contacted the company. They sent us a new pair of insoles! That really made me think a lot of their company for taking the time to do that.

Have you ever had a product replaced because of a 100% satisfaction guarantee?

It’s Cow Appreciation Day at Chickfila….. who’s going??

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 07:29 AM PDT

Photobucket

Today, July 9th, is Cow Appreciation Day and Chickfila is giving away a free combo (breakfast, lunch or dinner!) to anyone who dresses like a cow!

If you are fully dressed as a cow from head to toe, you can pick either an adult or a kids meal for free!

If you are partially dressed as a cow (such as a vest, hat or purse), you can get an entree for free.

Chickfila even provides free printable cow pieces and parts on their website! Last year we printed out the pieces and put them on and then drew spots on us with a black washable marker. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all when we went and they even took a complimentary picture for us! We are planning on going today!

Who else is going??

Day 9 of No Dining July

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 05:03 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here and the what’s for dinner posts here.

My progress:

No dining out for us today! Hubby even took leftovers for lunch. So proud of him!

How are you doing?

Leave a comment and let me know!

Let’s Save Some Money – Turn off the heated dry on the dishwasher

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 05:35 PM PDT

Saving money….. now there’s a topic we all love. Most of you are here reading my blog because you want to save more money. We save at the grocery store and we save at the drug store. But there are lots of ways we could be saving and stretching our dollar……

We don’t use the heated dry on the dishwasher. We run the dishes at night after dinner and then open the door to the dishwasher overnight and let the dishes air dry. This really helps to keep the cost of our power bill down.

What do you do?

Time for some childhood magic

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 05:13 PM PDT

30 minutes a day is all it takes. Getting creative and finding something unique to experience will your children every day. I just got a subscription to Family Fun magazine, plus I have a lot of activity books to do with the kids. So every day, you’ll find a post here about something big or small that I did to make my children’s childhood magical. After all, isn’t that what Disney is all about?

The kids were playing quietly in Emily’s room and I surprised them by pulling out Candy Land. They had such a great time playing it! I was surprised that the 3 year old could actually play it! I love being surprised by my children.

What did you do with your kids today?

So who’s with me?

Today we are emailing #61 to #72 on the spreadsheet. If you need ideas on what to write or not quite sure what this is all about, be sure to read this.
