John Adams Joins McGuireWoods in Richmond and D.C. Posted: 15 Jun 2010 07:39 PM PDT John Adams has joined law firm McGuireWoods LLP as a partner in the firm’s Richmond and Washington, D.C., offices. The firm announced yesterday that Adams has joined its  Government, Regulatory and Criminal Investigations Department. Adams is a former associate counsel to President George W. Bush, and previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is also a former law clerk to Associate Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court. Jonathan New Joins Baker Hostetler in New York Posted: 15 Jun 2010 12:07 PM PDT Jonathan New has joined law firm Baker Hostetler as a partner in its New York office.  The firm announced last week that New has joined its White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Practice. New was most recently an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Madoff Feeder Fairfield Seeks U.S. Court Protection Posted: 15 Jun 2010 11:30 AM PDT Fairfield Sentry Ltd. yesterday sought protection from creditors from a U.S. bankruptcy court. Bloomberg reports that Fairfield, the biggest feeder fund in Bernard Madoff's fraudulent investment business, filed a petition yesterday seeking U.S. recognition of the bankruptcy case filed in the British Virgin Islands in April 2009.
