Motorola Droid 2 Specifications Confirmed!

Posted: 11 Jun 2010 12:19 AM PDT

Finally, we have some information about the successor of the Motorola Droid – the Droid 2. We gave you a picture of the Droid 2 keyboard a couple of weeks ago, and now here is the picture of the whole device. The device has a 3.7-inch display (No AMOLED), along with 8 GB of internal memory. An 8 GB memory card will also be present inside the retail box.

Motorola Droid 2

The TI OMAP3630 processor running at 750 MHz powers the Motorola Droid 2. This is basically the ARM Cortex A8 processor with a PowerVR SGX graphics core. The device in all probability should pack in 512MB of RAM. The camera of the phone has not been upgraded, and is still at 5MP. In all probability, the Droid 2 will be able to record videos at 720p resolution.

Now moving on to the sad part, the device lacks an HDMI port and a front facing video-call camera. A new version of MotoBlur is also onboard. The test unit was reported to be running Android 2.1, instead of Android 2.2. We expect the device to hit the retail store sometime in Q3 of this year.

Nokia C7 Pictures Leaked; Sports An 8MP Camera

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 09:49 AM PDT

It was just yesterday we reported about the C7, and other N and E series from Nokia. Today we have the first leaked pictures of the Nokia C7. The Nokia C7 is a full-touch phone, with an 8MP camera at its back. The device looks similar to the Samsung Corby(s) out there. Along with an 8MP camera, the device also packs in dual-LED flash.

The front part of the screen is dominated by the touch-screen. A front video-call camera is also present near the top of the device screen. From the picture, it looks like the size of the touch-screen is ~3.5-inch. The call receive/end keys are also touch based. From the pictures, the device looks pretty thin. From the above picture, it is clearly visible that the Nokia C7 has dedicated music keys, and a camera shutter key. The device also sports a 3.5mm jack at the top. The device will run on S60 v5th edition, but we hope it runs on Symbian^3.

Hopefully, Nokia will announce the C7 "officially" in the upcoming few weeks.

Nokia 5530 v30.0.009 Firmware Update Released

Posted: 10 Jun 2010 04:58 AM PDT

Nokia has just rolled out a new firmware update for the Nokia 5530. The new firmware update is numbered v30.0.009. The Nokia 5530 has a 2.9-inch screen with a resolution of 360*640 (nHD). The phone is powered by anclip_image001 ARM 11 434 MHz CPU, and has 128MB of RAM along with 70MB of internal memory. The device also has Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3.2MP camera with LED flash.

The changes in this firmware are similar to the changes, which the Nokia 5800, 5230 got via a firmware update earlier. There is kinetic scrolling throughout the phone's UI now, including the web-browser. The web-browser is now similar to the one on the Nokia N97, and automatically switches to full screen mode after sometime.

The music player of the phone has also been updated to resemble that of the N97. Two new applications – Ovi Sync and Ovi contacts have also been added. The firmware is available via Nokia Software Update, as well as FOTA. The Nokia 5530 has UDP, so users don't need to make a backup of their device before updating the firmware.
