Uttarakhand News: Tehri dam Overflows – Flood Threat in Uttarakhand death rate reached to 65 Posted: 20 Sep 2010 12:58 AM PDT Uttarakhand News: Tehri dam Overflows and government has passed uttaranchal news of Flood Threat in Uttarakhand. Due to cloudburst Uttrakhand floods death rate reached to 65 today on Sep 20, 2010. Tehri dam Overflowing two meter above the danger mark in Haridwar, river Ganga flooded several areas in the district with holy place Har-Ki-Puari completely submerged under water. Rescue operation reached to the region and one official informed that seven people were still trapped under the debris of flattened houses in cloudburst-hit villages. State government on Sep 20, issued order to shut all the schools for three days. Considering the danger, the Tehri administration shifted people from six villages downstream to safer locations. Tehri district magistrate Radhika Jha said: ” There is no need to panic. We have shifted the villagers to ensure that there is no loss of life.” The flood threat is looming large over the villages on the bank of Bhagirathi where it meets the Alaknanda to form the Ganga. The most affected parts of the state are Chamauli, Nainital, Uttarkashi and Almora. It is reported that some of the tourist resorts located near the Corbett National Park have also been damaged. The state's communication lines and power have been adversely affected. Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank sought help from BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and she held telephonic talks with the prime minister to take emergency steps to tackle the situation in the state. United Stock Exchange of India (USE) is the fourth pan India exchange to be launched for trading financial instruments in India over the last 140 years. United Stock Exchange Of India inaugurating today by C B Bhave, Gopinath on 20th Sep 2010. United Stock Exchange of India (USE), the newest stock exchange for currency derivatives, is all set to commence operations from Monday. USE has received final approval from the market regulator SEBI to start currency futures trading. USE represents the commitment of ALL 21 Indian public sector banks, private banks and corporate houses to build an institution of standing. The exchange will be inaugurated by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairman C B Bhave and Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Shyamala Gopinath at the Bombay Stock Exchange ( BSE). USE will commence operations in all four currency pairs currently allowed by SEBI, namely the dollar-rupee, euro-rupee, yen-rupee and pound-rupee. The exchange will offer a better platform to corporates and SMEs for managing forex risk. The exchange was formed through a unique public-private partnership, with equity participation by both PSUs and private sector banks. Among the 21 public sector banks which have a stake in the USE are Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, IDBI Bank and State Bank of India, among others. In addition, five private sector banks — namely Axis Bank, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and J&K Bank — also have equity participation in the new exchange. Apart from banks, Jaypee Capital, MMTC and Indian Potash also have a stake in the United Stock Exchange.
