Posted: 20 Sep 2010 02:00 AM PDT With the changes in the economy, people have taken a rather grim view of homeownership lately–to the point where some experts have declared that there are few advantages to owning a home and that most people would be better off renting. The Wall Street Journal recently published an article to refute this notion (10 Reasons to Buy a Home), reminding its readers that there many advantages (both financial and psychological) to owning a home. If you are financially fit and ready for homeownership, you may be able to get a good deal because there are fewer buyers out there right now. Plus, mortgage rates are low at the moment. And you may be able to deduct mortgage interest from your income taxes. Perhaps the changes in the housing market will help people view a home as something that can be a sound investment, but not as guaranteed money-maker. Owning a home and building equity is a good way to invest money, as long as you understand that a home is not a get-rich-quick scheme. If you are thinking about buying Maryland real estate and are interested in living in Annapolis or its surrounding areas, contact top Annapolis realtor, John Day. His superior level of customer service and professionalism contributed to his being able to finish as Top Producer in the Annapolis Long and Foster sales office last year. |
