| First Friday and Peer 2 Peer Mentoring Posted: 31 Aug 2010 09:27 PM PDT Dear Scholars, I hope that everyone’s first week of school is coming along nicely. First a quick update: If there are still issues with your schedule, please put your name on the sign up sheet on my door so I can call you down once I finish the requests I have already received. Just as a point of reference, so far this week Ms Diaz and I are working through about 35 changes on A days and 5 or 10 on B days, because I teach periods 4-8. At this rate we can probably finish everything that has been submitted so far by the end of this week. But on to the fun part: This Friday will be our first First Friday – which, to the uninitiated, means that the first Friday of every month we abandon the typical 1st lunch/2nd lunch dichotomy and intermingle freely in a mirthful jamboree of school unity and pizza ($4). The plan is for this Friday is for freshmen and mentors to meet directly outside the Media Center to engage in a schoolwide scavenger hunt activity, with a prize for the winning mentor/mentee group. Please, come to the sign outside the Media Center for our inaugural activity. If you have Scholars Academy shirts, wear them — and please bring money for pizza!
