Sears Labor Day Sale: Get 15% off all appliances plus more!

Posted: 01 Sep 2010 07:40 AM PDT

Starting today and running through September 7th, Sears is offering an additional 15% off ALL appliances. If you have been in the market for ENERGY STAR appliances, this is a great time to make the big switch. You could save more than $2,500 on your utility bills!

Here are a few of the savings you will receive during this Labor Day sale:

–30 percent off all ENERGY STAR qualified appliances from Whirlpool®, Samsung and Maytag®.

–20 percent off all other ENERGY STAR appliances.

–Extra 5 percent off all appliances with a Sears Card.

–Save over $700 on LG washer/dryer pair

If you would like to take the ENERGY STAR Pledge, visit SearsBigSwitch.com where you can learn more about how new appliances can help reduce your energy and water consumption and reduce your impact on the environment.

Plus don’t forget that Sears has a price guarantee. If you find a price lower anywhere else within 14 days of purchase, Sears will match that price PLUS give you an additional 10% off! Go here for more details.

We purchased a Kenmore microwave in 2002 and that thing will not die. I told my husband that as soon as it dies, we will get an over the range microwave but it is showing no signs of failure. Sears makes their appliances too well! ;)

Contest: Win a phone call with me + a $25 Amazon.com GC for sending your Box Tops!

Posted: 01 Sep 2010 06:46 AM PDT

Photobucket

My daughter’s school just announced a contest that will run through October 31st. The class that brings in the most Box Tops will win a pizza party. Well of course I want Emily to win. I’ve been saving Box Tops all year and I have a bunch, but I want more! ;)

So I will be running a contest here on Couponing to Disney to see how many Box Tops we can collect for her school. Here’s the details:

1. To enter the contest, you must mail me an envelope of Box Tops. It doesn’t matter how many you mail. It can be 1 or 100. It’s up to you!
If you aren’t sure what Box Tops are, you can get all the details here. Box Tops are on 100′s of products. You probably have a ton in your pantry right now!

2. The contest will span 8 weeks. Each of the 8 weeks, I will choose a winner from every envelope that I have received up to that date. (So if you send your envelope in week 1, you still have a chance to win in week 4, etc). What will you win? Well…. how does a phone call from me sound? We can spend an hour chatting about coupons, Disney, etc. Whatever you want! You can pick my brain.

3. At the end of 8 weeks, I will choose 1 winner from all the envelopes to win a $25 gift card to Amazon plus a phone call! Just in time for Christmas shopping.

So here’s what you need to do to get started:

* Cut out all your Box tops. I do not need the entire label from the product, just cut out around the actual Box Top.

* Include in your envelope an index card with your name and email address. That way I can email you if you are a winner and set up the phone call!

* Mail the envelope to me at the following address:

Kristin Cooper
PO Box 108
Moody, AL 35004

Every Wednesday until October 27th, I will choose a winner for the phone call and announce it here on the blog.  I will email you and set up a time on the weekend for me to call you. We can talk about anything under the sun. Couponing, Disney, Blogging, etc. It doesn’t matter to me. Anything you want to pick out of my brain. ;) We can talk for at least an hour or more! I think this will be fun.

As I receive envelopes, they will be placed into a basket and I will draw from the basket each week. So if you send me an envelope on September 4th, you still have a chance to win the phone call on October 27th. The earlier you send the envelope, the more chances you have to win! And you can send as many envelopes as you want. You aren’t limited to just one.

And on Thursday, October 28th, I will choose one winner to receive both a phone call and a $25 gift card to Amazon for your Christmas shopping!

So get to clipping! And remember, each Box Top is worth 10 cents to the school. You are not only helping Emily’s class win the pizza party, but you are also helping the school buy new supplies!

And please don’t feel obligated to send me your Box Tops. If you collect them for other children, then by all means keep them. But if you don’t have anyone to send them too, feel free to send them my way. :)

Day 1 of No Dining Out September

Posted: 01 Sep 2010 05:00 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here and the what’s for dinner posts

My progress:

No dining out for me yesterday!

How are you doing?

*I will choose a winner over the next few days. I have to go through all the posts and verify the winner had 10 posts during the month.

Let’s Save Some Money: Avoid the risks of debits making your account overdrawn!

Posted: 31 Aug 2010 05:07 PM PDT

Saving money….. now there’s a topic we all love. Most of you are here reading my blog because you want to save more money. We save at the grocery store and we save at the drug store. But there are lots of ways we could be saving and stretching our dollar……

A new law was recently passed that I am a huge fan of. Now on your bank accounts, you will be able to choose to opt in or opt out of debit transactions that might potentially make your account go negative. For example, if you had opted out and you went to buy a cup of coffee and you only had $1 in the bank and the coffee was $3, the debit would be declined on the spot. You would not get your coffee. This is great news because that cup of coffee could of turned into a $39 drink!

According to the article I read here, everyone should automatically be opted out. However, you might want to check with your local bank to make sure.

Also if you do ever incur NSF fees, always be polite and ask them to waive them. In the past, they have always been willing to waive one or two of mine. (Thankfully it has been a VERY long time since I went negative in my account.) Also, most banks now allow you to link accounts together. I have all my accounts linked to one another, so if something was to happen it will pull a balance from the other account (a $7.50 charge each time), but it avoids the risk of being overdrawn.

Choose from 10 different products and just pay shipping!

Posted: 31 Aug 2010 03:53 PM PDT

I am so excited to get this deal in my email. You can choose from Free Business Cards, Free Postcards, Free Rubber Stamp, Free Banner, Free Mug, Free Invitations, Free Photo Wall Calendars, Free Photo Flip Book, Free Car Door Magnet, Free Note Cards or Free Stickers from Vistaprint!

You do have to pay shipping on these items, but it isn’t too bad. I got a rubber stamper, a canvas tote bag and 140 address labels and I paid about $7. Shipping on 140 labels is $3.11.

Here are the ones I ordered:

I love their rubber stampers. I have had mine for 2 years and it still works excellent! It beats having to write your address out every time. Now that I have the PO Box for the blog, I wanted one for it as well.

I also really like their canvas bags. They have so many different designs including ones for your kid’s sport teams! I’m going to use mine to carry my reusable bags to the store. I think it will work perfect for that.

I also love their address labels. There are so many neat things you can do with them besides using them for addresses:

Plus they are offering 250 business cards. Besides using them to promote your business, blog, Etsy shop, trade site, etc. You can get creative. One of my readers uses them as little cards of encouragement when her employees are doing a good job. Another made cards to pass out at Disney World to cast members that brightened her day.

You can also use them as Mommy Cards. You can give these to other mother’s that you meet at the park, play group, mall, etc or to give to the baby sitter so she can contact you.

The possibilities are endless! You just need to get creative.

To get started, just go here and click on the free product you want to create. Plus they take Paypal at check out. That really makes my life easier!

Here are my products:

Toys R Us: Pre-order Beauty and the Beast and get $10 off another Disney movie!

Posted: 31 Aug 2010 01:24 PM PDT

If you are planning on purchasing Beauty and the Beast on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, you might want to go ahead and pre-order it at your local Toys R Us store. You will need to pay $5 to reserve the movie, but then you will receive a coupon for $10 off another Disney movie.

When Toy Story 1 & 2 were released in the Spring, Toys R Us ended up having the best price. I think reserving the movie now is a good plan. Be sure to call your local store ahead of time before you go there.

Plus don’t forget about the $10 coupon you can print here.
